Frequently Asked Questions

Fabric is sold by the fat quarter.

What is a “Fat Quarter”

Fabric for quilting is usually sold from 100% cotton fabric bolts that are 112cm (40″) wide. A Fat Quarter is half a metre cut from the bolt, then cut in half again so that the fat quarter of fabric has a width of 55cm (22″), and a length of 50cm (20″).

What is a “Long Quarter”

Long Quarter is an area of fabric which has a width of 112cm (44″), this being the full width of the fabric bolt and a length of 25cm (10″).

If you require fabric to be cut a specific way, please include a note in the “Message to Merchant” box at the checkout. If not specified otherwise fabric will be cut in one continuous piece.

The following diagram will, hopefully, clarify how a Fat Quarter and a Long Quarter are cut from the bolt of fabric.

If you order 2 fat quarters this will be cut as a half metre in one piece measuring 50cm x 112cm (20” x 44”). If you have a preference for the fabric to be cut a certain way, please include a note in the “Message for Merchant” box which will appear when you go to checkout after you have registered your details.

I can also cut fabric in a long quarter if this is preferred. A long quarter measures 25cm x 112cm (10” x 44”). Again, please include a note in the “Message for Merchant” box when you are checking out.

How do I pay for the fabric?

When will my fabric arrive after I have ordered and paid for it?

We will endevour to post fabric orders within one working day of an order being placed. All orders will be sent by Standard Post with An Post. They aim to deliver to Ireland and Northern Ireland within 1 to 2 working days. I also post to EU Countries and deliveries overseas can take 5 to 7 working days as they are dependant on the postal service in the country of order.

Is it possible to view the fabrics in person and buy direct?

The shop is selling online only so it is not open to the public and all orders must be placed through the website or over the phone. I do not travel to group meetings or attend shows. I do sometimes do a sale day with Winnies Craft Café. Information will be provided beforehand by Newsletter or on my Facebook / Instagram accounts.
